OMMU Changes Smokable Flower Registry Process: Everything You Need to Know

If you currently have a recommendation for smokable flower, or it is something you are interested in obtaining, then it’s time to check in with your doctor.

Starting Friday, July 12th 2019, any doctor’s recommendation for medical marijuana that contains a recommendation for smokable, whole flower must be updated.

The system was updated June 28 to include smokable flower as a newly established route of administration for medical cannabis patients.

Before the June 28 rule update, doctors would write the whole flower recommendations in the “notes” section of the order. Now, there is a designated field specifically for flower recommendations. Patients will have to be re-added into the registry with this new format if they haven’t already, according to the state’s Office of Medical Marijuana Use.

For questions or concerns regarding your current flower order, please reach out to your recommending physician. You can also do the following:

  1. Current MMJ patients can view their recommendations by using this OMMU guide.
  2. Before calling your physician, be sure to double check your order to see if the appropriate changes were already made.
  3. Directly contact your physician if you need further assistance.
