Gather The Ingredients
- 3 medium heads of green cabbage, cored and quartered
- 1 tablespoon fine salt, plus more to taste
- 1 pack of thick-cut bacon
- 3-4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- 1 serving of your preferred cannabutter or cannabis tincture (adjust dose to personal preference)
Prep the Cabbage
Rinse off the cabbages thoroughly in water and pat dry. Cut into 6 equal-sized wedges and be sure to remove the core.
Cook the Bacon
Set the stove to low-medium heat. Add 2-3 pieces of bacon to the bottom of a large stockpot. Let the bacon cook for about 2 minutes or until it begins to curl up.
Braise the Cabbage
Add cabbages to the pot and add about an inch of water. Cover, and bring to a boil. Lower to a simmer and cover until the cabbage begins to soften, 5 to 7 minutes. Add salt and pepper to taste.
Butter Up the Cabbage
Fold in bacon by turning the cabbage carefully. Add in the cannabutter or tincture and continue to simmer until the cabbage is tender, an additional 5 minutes. The cabbage is ready when the thickest part of the cabbage can be pierced with a fork. Continue to cook, uncovered, until any remaining moisture has evaporated. Add 3 to 4 tablespoons melted unsalted butter, turning the cabbage gently to coat.
Serve
Serve immediately, garnished with additional fresh ground black pepper if desired.
Notes for Dosing:
- Adjust the amount of tincture or cannabutter based on the desired potency. If serving to multiple people, start with a conservative dose for safety.
Remember:
Be mindful of local laws and regulations regarding cannabis use and possession.
Always start with a low dose of cannabis and increase as needed.
Cannabis edibles can take effect more slowly than other consumption methods.
