Cool Off With Cannabis

Cannabis doesn’t exactly prevent you from overheating, but it can help keep you balanced enough to truly enjoy any activity during the sweltering summer months.

There is no denying that summertime in Florida is HOT – but did you know that using cannabis helps you stay cool? Yes, cool in the sense that everyone on Facebook wants to click “add friend” when they see you pop up on their timeline, but cannabis also regulates your body temperature to ensure that you will stay cool even on the most humid days.

Cannabinoids interact with an area in the brain known as the hypothalamus to help maintain homeostasis. Homeostasis is the body’s ideal state it needs to be in to function correctly. For example, when it’s hot outside, you begin to sweat to bring down your temperature so you don’t overheat. Additionally, they will engage with the receptors that modulate our sensation of heat and pain. When this happens, it can dull our sense of feeling hot.

Cannabis doesn’t exactly prevent you from overheating, but it can help keep you balanced enough to truly enjoy any activity during the sweltering summer months. Here are a few things I love to do to stay cool physically and mentally during an intense Florida Summer.

Mocktails on the Beach

Nothing compares to the feeling you get while sipping an ice-cold cocktail at the beach on a summer day. The downside to this is alcohol is a diuretic, so it causes your body to remove fluids from your blood at a quicker rate than other liquids. Since you are already losing fluids faster than usual through sweating at the beach, you’ll quickly become dehydrated and probably more intoxicated than you planned if you don’t keep up with your water intake.

My favorite alternative to enjoying a cocktail on the beach is a cannabis-infused mocktail made with Smokiez Agave Nectar. You can easily add a little extra kick to any drink by mixing your preferred dose in your glass. My go-to beach mocktail? A three-ingredient lemonade is made by shaking up 1.5 cups of freshly squeezed lemon juice, 6 cups water, and 1 tbsp of the infused Agave Nectar. It’s super refreshing and eases me into a pleasant euphoric relaxation after just one glass.

Float Down a River with a Pre-Roll

Aside from its beaches, Florida has some of the most beautiful rivers and springs. The great things about most of these water oases are that their water temperature remains nice and cool all year round, making them the perfect place to chill out and wash away your worries.

While there are plenty of fun activities you can do at these parks, such as kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding, my favorite thing to do is grab a big intertube and a pre-rolled joint of Freedom Town Holdings flower and float down the river in full relaxation mode. In my experience, neither the smell nor the smoke seems to bother the other people enjoying the water – in fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if they asked you to pass it their way!

Edibles for the Waterpark

It wouldn’t be a proper summer of fun without a day at the waterpark, and since everything is better when you’ve got a nice buzz, why not elevate your experience? The one downside of being a cannabis user at a waterpark is that many of them are smoke-free parks. So, leave your flower and vape carts at home, and bring a pack of Smokiez Gels in your cooler!

One of the best things about edibles is that they are long-lasting. Compared to inhaled cannabis, edibles take a bit longer to kick in, but once they do, the relief lasts around six hours. Additionally, when THC is eaten, it gets converted into a much more potent version of THC known as 11-hydroxy-THC. As a result, you have an intense, long-lasting high that makes every water slide even more enjoyable.

Regardless of how you spend your summer days, there are endless ways you can elevate your experience with a bit of cannabis. Just make sure you stay hydrated, keep cool, and enjoy yourself!
