Cape Coral history began in 1957, thanks to two brothers from Baltimore.
Leonard and Jack Rosen first flew over the peninsula when it was known as Redfish Point, and decided it was the ideal location to develop. They turned the heavily forested wilderness into a waterfront gulf coast paradise, making it the largest master-planned community in the United States.
Spain soon gifted the land to the states in 1821, in return for the forgiving of a 5 million dollar debt. Redfish Point soon became populated with settlers and runaway slaves, and much turmoil encompassed the land.
After the Seminole Wars, the land was patented to Florida, which became an official state in 1845. The land was mainly used for hunting and railroad investment properties. It was wild and sparsely inhabited when the Rosen Brothers purchased it for the bargain price of $678,000.
Today, Cape Coral is home to a diverse population of residents and boasts many vacation-worthy attractions located all around the Fluent Cape Coral dispensary.
